Cream Puffs (Windbeutel)

Now this brings back memories of my childhood. I remember eating these delicious Cream Puffs for Sunday afternoon coffee. You can make so many variations to this so it will fit everones taste.

Ingredients

Pastry

1 cup water
1/3 cup butter
1 tablespoon sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 cup flour
1 egg

Filling
Strawberries and Whipped Topping

Here you can get creative. You can substitute
the fruit with anything you like. Add some vanilla
ice cream and maybe top with heavy whipping
cream instead of whipped topping.

Step 1

In a small saucepan over medium heat, bring the water
butter, sugar and salt to a boil.

Step 2

Add flour all at once.

Step 3

Stir until a smooth ball forms. Remove from heat.

Step 4

Let stand for 5 minutes. Add egs, one at a time
beating well after each addition.

Step 5

Continue beating until mixture is smooth and shiny.
I recomend doing this with a kitchen aid. It will be
much easeir than by hand.

Step 6

Drop by 2 tablespoonfulls 3 inches apart onto greased
baking sheets.

Step 7

Bake at 400 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes or until
golden brown.

Step 8

Remove to wire racks. Immediatley splitt
puffs open. Remove tops and set aside.
Discard sof dough from inside and cool
puffs.

Step 9

Fill each cream puff with fruit.

Step 10

Top each puff with whipped topping.

Step 11

Replace tops. You can sprinkle with powdered sugar
if desired.

Bon Appetite !!!
